The pups are now 5 weeks old and getting bigger by the day. They are into everything and despite having a multitude of toys to play with much prefer to hamper the kennel cleaning by attacking the mop and broom.
They are such an even litter that we have marked each one by shaving a different part of its tail. This helps us identify each puppy especially once we do the character assessment on them when they are 49 days old.
Today the 'L' Litter had a visit from the Goodings and I am pleased to say that two of our puppies will now be going to members of this lovely family. Thank you for taking the time to visit us and for your lovely comments.
The puppies are growing up fast, 3 weeks and 5 days old. They are playing & fighting with each other and exploring and playing with their new toys.
Visual, audible and texture stimulation is very important in these early stages. The pups have a radio on in their kennel as background noise and we have a sound effects CD with everything from thunder to traffic and other animal noises playing at a low level gradually increasing in volume as they get older.
The nice weather is ideal for getting the pups out on the grass provided they have plenty of shade and are kept under observation at all times. Meanwhile........
We have arranged for the L Litter to be looked over by one of the UK's top GSD breeders and a qualified breed judge when the pups are 6 weeks old.
We have also arranged for a former instructor colleague from the Metropolitan Police dog training school to carry out the puppy character assessment on the litter when they are 49 days old. This will give us some insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the pups in relation to train-ability that we can pass on to the new owners.
The pups will all be vet checked at the Lady Dane Veterinary Center prior to being sent to their new homes.
